Abstract: The 2030 Agenda and the European Consumer Agenda underline the need for inclusive, accountable institutions and empowered consumers, emphasizing the role of local authorities in promoting justice, sustainable practices, and accessible conflict resolution. This communication assesses how Portuguese municipalities are implementing SDG 16 by advancing consumer rights and identifies best local practices that support vulnerable groups and strengthen community development.

About STARS Talks: This format of knowledge exchange and interaction is organised by our Challenge Lab. Its monthly webinars will discuss different initiatives based on science, knowledge and innovation that can be useful or inspiring for the development of our regions. Each webinar will include a short dissertation on the chosen topic by the guest speaker, and afterwards the session will be open for dialogue and interaction.
