Terms and Conditions of Use: STARS EU AllianceThe use of resources and services provided by the STARS EU Alliance must comply with applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. As the STARS EU Alliance facilitates collaborative activities involving data exchange, including the use, adaptation, or merging of content from multiple sources, all users must adhere to the original copyright and intellectual property rights of the materials involved.The STARS EU Alliance upholds the principles outlined in the Code of Good Practice for Copyright in Terminology (from Infoterm) regarding the ethical exchange, collection, and use of data, including but not limited to terminological resources. The following provisions apply to all users accessing or utilizing resources within the STARS EU alliance:
  1. Intellectual Property
1.1. Explicit reference to the original source of materials must be made whenever content, in whole or in part, is reproduced or shared with third parties. This rule applies to individual items as well as subsets of data from larger datasets.1.2. In cases where large volumes of data are reused, a single, comprehensive reference to the source may suffice, provided that the recipient agrees to acknowledge the original source in subsequent usage.1.3. Consent from the original author or rights holder is required when content is shared with third parties, especially if the material is used for commercial or public dissemination.1.4. Content under copyright protection may not be transferred without explicit permission from the original creator, except for limited educational or research purposes as allowed under national implementations of the Berne Convention (WIPO Convention).1.5. Any financial agreements regarding licenses, royalties, or other fees must be strictly observed.1.6. Institutions utilizing external data must implement safeguards against unauthorized reproduction or distribution that may infringe the rights of the original creators.
  1. Data Integrity
2.1. The integrity of all shared data must be maintained, and deliberate alterations that distort the original meaning or context are prohibited. Corrections of typographical errors or obvious inaccuracies are permissible with proper justification.2.2. Modifications to data for collaborative purposes should respect the ethical standards of the STARS EU Alliance and relevant copyright regulations. Liability and Compliance
  • Users accessing the STARS EU Alliance platform or resources are responsible for ensuring compliance with these terms.
  • Non-compliance may result in the suspension of access to resources, and further action may be pursued as required by law.
