Event Details

Researchers from the STARS EU partner universities are invited to take part in the Development in Higher Education Institutions research workshop, which is held at Hochschule Bremen City University of Applied Sciences  (Germany), on November 9 and 10, 2026.  Organised in collaboration with the Thematic Interest Group (TIG) Education and Learning in and for a New Working Life (ELW), the event will provide a forum for sharing research, exchanging experiences and discussing current developments related to the strategic development of higher education institutions.

Objective

The workshop aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among researchers working on higher education development. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss ongoing research, exchange ideas and strengthen academic networks within the STARS EU Alliance.

A key part of the programme will be the presentation of the first findings from the SLW@HAW research project, which explores the strategic orientation of universities of applied sciences in the fields of teaching, learning and continuing education through a comparative study conducted in Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. These preliminary results will serve as the basis for discussion and knowledge exchange.

About the TIG ELW

The Thematic Interest Group (TIG) Education and Learning in and for a New Working Life (ELW) focuses on the relationship between education, learning and professional life. Its mission is to develop innovative approaches that prepare current and future students with the knowledge, skills and competences needed to respond to the evolving demands of society and the labour market.

The group adopts a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) perspective, bringing together academics, students, practitioners, industry representatives and policymakers in a collaborative, international environment to co-create knowledge and promote best practices in higher education.
