The STARS EU Agenda is presented as a strategic framework to promote research solutions aimed at sectors and industries facing transition and transformation processes, both at the regional level and in the broader context of the European Union. It is a guiding document with which the alliance will address multiple key objectives related to cooperation, impact and knowledge transfer. This agenda not only seeks to create academic impact, but also to transform sectors and industries through the promotion of meaningful collaboration with the main actors in society. For this reason, it is necessary to identify the demands of those sectors that need to adapt to changes, whether economic, technological or social. In order to successfully meet future demands and needs in different areas, it is essential to promote applied research in the interest of facilitating their digitalisation and sustainability, as well as their resilience. This is possible by establishing a collaborative and active research model between the alliance universities, students and regional partners. Only in this way can the co-creation of knowledge be promoted.

It is essential to involve local communities so that the results respond to their real needs and maximise impact by establishing innovative models capable of ensuring that research results are translated into practical and applicable solutions. In this way, the transfer of knowledge to companies, local governments and society in general is encouraged. STARS EU Research Solutions Agenda is very aware of the regional and European dimension. For this reason, it seeks to align regional priorities with the EU's strategies and objectives, relying on the use of European funds and programmes for research and innovation with which to develop initiatives that respond to global challenges. The fact that this agenda is being developed in close collaboration between regional partners and students implies the important role that the latter also play. It is vital to involve students in research projects that promote learning based on real challenges and oriented to practice, in addition to strengthening their competencies in innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.Â
