Dick Pouwels, President of Hanze UAS and coordinator of STARS EU, has received the title ‘Doctor Honoris Causa’ from the Alexander Moisiu University in Durrës, Albania.
The title was delivered by the Rector of the Alexander Moisiu University, Prof. Dr Kseanela Sotirofski during a official ceremony were Dick Pouwels was praised for “his impact on the internationalization of Alexander Moisiu University through the creation of the European University Alliance, for promoting European values, for raising the University to competitive standards with international recognition in the European Higher Education Area, for the significant contribution to the expansion of scientific research and innovation, for the impact on the regional transition, enabling transnational collaborations throughout Europe and wider inspiring the transformation of higher education.”
Mr. Pouwels, in his welcoming speech, thanked Alexander Moisiu University for this honor and appreciated the importance of the STARS EU Alliance, which according to the European Commission, is one of the main pillars of the European Education Area.
The ceremony was graced by his Excellency, Mr. Reinout Vos, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Holland and also honored with the participation by the Prefect of Durres District, Mr. Emiljan Jani and Deputy Mayor of Durrës Mr. Kallmi Fiber.
